It is really exciting to be part of the first SALA Festival Event (South Australian Living Artists Festival) to be held at the beautiful and glam GU Film House, Glenelg.

Along with four other artists I am presenting in my first solo show eight portraits of the iconic Marilyn Monroe, my exhibition is titled 'Essence of Marilyn Monroe.'

The exhibition opens on Thursday 3rd August from 5pm – 7pm and will be officiated by the Mayor of Holdfast Bay, the honourable Stephen Patterson.

The exhibition will continue until the 30th August and will be open each day from 10am – 9:30pm.

The inspiration for this exhibition stemmed from me and my partner attending a Marilyn's fundraiser held at the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. The Marilyn's Jetty Swim is held each year and raises money for the Cancer Council of South Australia. An adventurous group of women from all walks of life united by their passion for seeing an end to cancer participate in this annual event.

As an artist who loves to paint portraits this was an opportunity for me develop my skills and raise money for this very worthy cause.

Part proceeds of any art sales will be donated to the Cancer Council of South Australia. There will also be a raffle held on the night with an original portrait of Marilyn in that iconic white dress as one of the prizes.
