Marilyn Jetty Swim - Be Bold Be Fabulous Be Marilyn - Sunday 4 February 2018

Last year I was part of the first SALA Festival Event (South Australian Living Artists Festival) at GU Film House, Glenelg.

Along with four other artists I am presented my first solo show eight portraits of the iconic Marilyn Monroe, my exhibition was titled 'Essence of Marilyn Monroe.'

The inspiration for this exhibition stemmed from me and my partner attending a Marilyn's fundraiser held at the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. The Marilyn's Jetty Swim is held each year and raises money for the Cancer Council of South Australia. An adventurous group of women from all walks of life united by their passion for seeing an end to cancer participate in this annual event.

As an artist who loves to paint portraits this was an opportunity for me develop my skills and raise money for this very worthy cause.

The exhibition was a great success and I wase able to raise some funds for this fantastic cause.

I also donated a limited edition framed print signed by me to be auctioned at a Marilyn's fund raising event 'Marilyn Twinkle'.

I was informed yesterday that this portrait was auctioned at a Marilyns fundraiser and was bought by the Manager of Esca, Restaurant and Expresso Bar Marina Pier, Holdfast Shores, Glenelg SA 5045 and is currently on display at this venue. Thank you.
